As part of Irish Hackerspaces Week we are running a Night of Short Talks in TOG on Thursday 20th Septempter 2012 kicking off at 7:30pm. Irish Hackerspaces Week: Update

Irish Hackerspace Week 2012

A lot of work is going on preparing a series of events for Hackerspace Week
A sneak speak of the current schedule is here:
All events have been added to our normal calander but sometimes it’s nice to see it all in one place.

We also have two great soldering workshops going on. Links on the schedule. Book early!

R workshop (repeat)

Once again, the last R workshop turned out to be very popular and Kevin kindly agreed to teach another one! If you missed out on the last one, here’s your chance.

Since its inception, R has become one of the preeminent programs for statistical computing and data analysis. The ready availability of R, along with a wide variety of associated packages, marks it as an excellent choice for a multitude of computing tasks related to statistics and data science.

The workshop will introduce delegates to computing in the R environment; including data objects, basic calculations and using help, then progressing to some of the core features of R: vectorization, subscripting, and the some of the functions in R that are provided for common data management tasks.

As the workshop is intended to complement forthcoming Coursera statistics classes, very little statistical knowledge is expected.

The class will also include a short presentation from a developer who uses R professionally.

When? Saturday, September 29th, from 10:30 till around 15:30 (with breaks!)
Cost: €8 for non-members, free for members

Please use the form below the cut to sign up. Updated to add: we’re full! You can still sign up to be added to the waiting list.
