When we did the big move from Chancery Lane, it was a good chance to do a bit of a clear out. Certain things got earmarked for the skip. There was a question mark over Tog’s old sofa. It was a faithful old thing. So what if it was a bit rickety, with a few screws here, and a bit of board there to keep it together.  Many a weary traveller was glad of it when they came to the space. So should we take it with us to TOG 3.0 or not?

This indecision was not helped by the fact that we were donated a swanky black leather sofa recently. Anyway the moving truck came and went, and the sofa was still there so it looks like the decision had been made. Into the skip with it! Now a sofa is a big old thing and would take up a lot of room in the skip. Enter sledgehammer. One of our members was a feeling a bit stressed lately, and he reckoned that a bit of sledgehammer therapy would do him good. Suffice to say it was Member 1, Sofa 0. It wasn’t pretty. When you move house, you get to move all of your stuff too. TOG is no different. You find things that you had long forgotten about. There’s been some pleasant surprises already. Like finding a tenner in an old pair of jeans that have been through the wash.

Last year was our first Culture Night opening, and was one of our busiest days of the year (possibly due in part to us being unknowingly featured in the Irish Times)

For 2015 we want to make it better again!

All our groups – electronics, lockpicking, coding, crafting and craft-beering have flourished over the last 12 months, and new groups such as CAD and art have taken off.

We have made loads of projects and aquired great new equipment that we are eager to show off.

So please join us! For 5 mins or 5 hours 🙂

All welcome no matter what the weather, we will have all kinds of crazy technology and projects to show off, with tours, demos and tasters throughout the night.

And remember: we have the synchronous hackathon and pizza night the next day!

As many of you are aware, security knowledge sharing is close to TOG’s heart, and with that we are always excited to see more security conferences happening in Dublin. Even better when it does not require a company credit card to attend. This is why I would like to tell you all about a free security conference taking part in Dublin in October this year. I ( jester ) am helping out with the planning and I will be running a lockpicking table during the event, so be sure to pop along and say hi. Bring your picks if you have them 🙂

Daggercon is a new and upcoming computer security conference, organized by the security community. Supporting security communities are involved in the creation of this conference so please show your support by spreading the word, and attending.
