Dublin Linux Community – Hackerspace Meetup + Tech Swap Shop

We are hosting the Dublin Linux Community for their November meetup. You can find out all about their meetup below.

We are delighted to announce the first Dublin Linux Hackerspace meetup hosted in TOG Hackerspace Dublin (tog.ie). A match made in heaven! We will also have a swap shop for any random tech and gadgets that you think might be useful to someone else. Please note that you do not need to be a member of TOG to attend but if you are interested in joining we will have tours of the space and information on the membership process.

IoT with Arduino Cloud: Beginner-Friendly Workshop

Join us for a 2.5-hour, hands-on workshop that introduces you to the world of the Internet of Things (IoT) through Arduino Cloud. This beginner-friendly session will teach you how to connect your projects to the Internet, visualize data in real time, and manage your devices remotely using Wi-Fi.

You’ll work with two ESP32 boards, a BME280 sensor to measure temperature, humidity, and air pressure, and a small screen to display your data. We’ll guide you through soldering, wiring, and programming your sensors, and show you how to send the data to Arduino Cloud for online monitoring.

Arduino Cloud makes it easy for makers of all levels to build and manage IoT projects. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a fully functioning system and the knowledge to expand your project by adding more sensors.

Culture Night At Tog Hackerspace

Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is a national moment, celebrating all that makes up the richness and diversity of Culture in Ireland today, connecting people to cultural activities locally and nationally and aims to open up pathways to ongoing engagement.

Friday 20th September 2024 18:00 – 22:00

An annual, all-island public event which takes place each year on the second last Friday of September, Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir celebrates culture, creativity and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day.

Tour the Hackerspace to learn about innovative projects and technologies at TOG. Enjoy demonstrations of their fabrication equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNCs. Guests can also try their hand at an electronics project or learn lock-picking. TOG encompasses many elements from the maker movement, so this is a fantastic event for creators and tinkerers of all ages!

TOG is a hackerspace run and funded by its ongoing members. It offers a modern studio-like space, with access to a large range of equipment and a community of welcoming STEAM enthusiasts.

Tog At Dublin Comic Con Summer 2024

Dublin Comic Con returns to the Convention Centre Dublin on August 24th and 25th. We will be there for the summer edition. This is Ireland’s leading pop culture event. An event for the whole family. Covering everything from movies/tv shows to comics, cosplay and gaming!

We will have a fan table on both days. We are excited to showcase projects that were built by our members and to give everyone an idea of what can be built in our community

CNC Workshop- Make an edge-lit LED sign!

Learn the basics of CNC (computerised) carving and engraving in this creative project-based 2-session course at Tog Hackerspace with SteveMpotter.tech

In the first session, you will use VcarvePro to design something you would like to make into an edge-lit acrylic sign. In the second session, you will graduate from CAD (computer-aided design) to CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) by carving your design on a portable CNC carver.
