Picture of 10 laser cut pencils, with information about TOG's 8th Birthday Party

With less than a week to go, TOG is holding a competition to celebrate our 8th Birthday Party. The party is taking place after 7pm on Saturday, 28th January in our space, 22 Blackpits. You can find the details on our meetup page.

About Us

TOG is a hackerspace based in the centre of Dublin. It is a shared space where members have a place to be creative and work on their projects in an environment that is both inspiring and supportive of both new and old technologies. In the past 8 years we have worked on everything from giant LEDs to Raspberry Pis, we have made a twitter knitter and a pizza oven.

Contest!

The prizes are a personalized laser cut pencil and a surprise from our 3D printer. Entering is really easy. Simply Retweet this tweet or Share this Facebook post. 5 winners will be pseudorandomly picked from Twitter and 5 from Facebook, on Saturday the 28th, prizes can be picked up in the space.

Update:   To enter the Facebook competition you will also need to leave a comment on the post.

Grand Opening Party

balloonsCome along on Saturday 30th January at 7PM to TOG’s Birthday party, January Open Social and Grand Opening Bash…… all rolled into one. We want to to make it our best party ever.

We moved from our old place in Chancery Lane in November. Now we’re up and running in our new space at 22 Blackpitts. Come in and catch up with us. We’ll give you a tour of our fantastic new space. Our very own brewers are promising TOG beer and other samples for you to try. Weather permitting, you might get to cook your own pizza on TOG’s very own pizza oven. Try your hand at some lock picking, but be warned…. it’s addictive. There’s some great project ideas in the works by some of our members….. making guitars, a dedicated brew room and another Art show to name but a few.

The space stays open until the last member is left……usually the small hours of Sunday morning. The open social is free to attend for members and visitors alike. Our doors will be open from 7pm. Drop in for 10 minutes, or stay the whole night. We have parking available. Bring beer, food, gadgets! Hope to see you there.

UPDATE: As is tradition, our very own Schrodinger invites the world : New year, new space, new TOG. Let’s PARTY!!

UPDATE 2: Check out the story in Silicon Republic about us. Tog’s seventh birthday party a maker’s delight

Celebrate TOG’s sixth birthday (and last one at Chancery Lane)

party_bgTOG is six years old! We’ll be having cake to celebrate this Saturday 24th of January. It’ll also be our last birthday in Chancery Lane as the lease is up and we need to move. So, the details:

The Birthday Party
There’ll be cake! There’ll be friendly neighbourhood hackers! There’ll be good times! Did we mention cake? TOG will be open from 7.30pm till late on Saturday 24th of January. Just drop down and enjoy yourself. You don’t have to be a member and there’s no cost to attend, though we’d welcome donations for the move (see next section). If you want to bring any nibbles to share, that’d be great but not obligatory. Likewise, if you want beer, bring your own (you don’t have to share that). If you’ve not visited us yet, this is the perfect time to scope us out!

We Have to Move
TOG need to leave Chancery Lane by the end of April. We are currently looking for a new place to lease, so if you know of anything that we can’t find ourselves (we’re keeping a close eye on daft), suggest it to one of our members or send a note on the contact page. We want to stay in the city centre so it’s easy for everyone to get to the space, and we’d like to be able to have a few sub rooms so we can keep workshop gear separate from the sewing machines and nights of talks (similar to our current set up).
Once we find a place, we’re going to have some extra costs (deposits need to be paid upfront, vans and skips need to be rented), so if you’d have a few bob to spare, consider donating some €€’s to help us out through the paypal link below or by dropping in to the space. If you want to help us in the longer term, consider becoming a member and sharing the month to month running costs. We’ll have a laser-cut collection box at the birthday party, so if you want to donate lovely anonymous cash, we’re prepared for that too.
We’ll keep everyone posted on how things are going with finding a place and moving. Group nights will continue as normal in Chancery Lane until we’ve settled elsewhere.

5th Birthday Party!

It’s been five years since a group of people came together to form Ireland’s first hackerspace in Dublin. It’s been a roller coaster ride for all of us, but here we are.

It would not be a birthday without a good party. So, we are having our Birthday Party in TOG on Saturday 25th from 8pm onwards. All (members, non-members, general public, ducks) of you are welcome to join us.

Are you a long term member? Come along and remininsce!
Are you a new member? Come along see a TOG Birthday Bash!
Been to TOG a few times? Come along and party with us!
Never been to TOG, but interested? Come along, find out about us, and have a good time!

The TOG AGM will be held that evening 6pm to 8pm, which is only open to TOG members. BYOB. No charge. ROAR.
